Welcome to Motherhood... this is my online journal to share my experiences.

The last 7 years have been filled with the antics of my precious little man Sean. Now it will be the fun filled stories of not only my continued journey through motherhood, but Sean's journey as a big brother, and seeing the world through Andrew's eyes.

Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas, I hope everyone else did too.

My dad, his wife (better known as Ms. Ju Ju), and my brother (who lives in Ft Worth and I haven't seen in 2 years) came over for Christmas Eve. Leading up to Christmas Eve, we had his presents from my dad and Ms. Ju Ju and the ones from mommy and daddy already under the tree.

For our family tradition we normally have Christmas with my family on Christmas Eve, Santa leaves presents on Christmas morning, and then we have Christmas with daddy's family on Christmas day.

Ms. Ju Ju had wrapped Sean's presents in green paper and put skulls & cross bones on the packages (Sean's into pirates right now). Sean asked if the presents with the skulls & cross bones on them were his. I told him they were. His response... "When's Santa coming to bring my real presents?"

Sean had a new friend to play with... my brother, Chris. I'm waiting for my copies of the videos from my dad. You would have thought I invited one of Sean's playmates over, since Sean and Chris were hiding in Sean's room playing most of the evening.

Of course Sean got TONS of toys, but we've purged his room of toys his no longer played with. Michael took Sean this year to Walmart to do Toys for Tots, and the toys he was giving up were given away or donated. He's such a great little giver.

Boys Will Be Boys

Most of the family already knows, but Sean re-broke his arm Friday. Sean had his cast removed on December 15th, but on December 26th he re-broke one of the two bones in his forearm.

This morning I took him to the hospital to have it reset and casted. This time the cast is up to his bicep, and his doctor plans to leave him in the cast longer.

For those who don't know how he did it...
He was at his pre-school so mommy and daddy could get work and errands done. Sean was at school for 1-1/2 hours before Michael called me to come home. Sean was on the playground at school and he was running to the water fountain. He apparently tripped and fell on the concrete and broke his arm trying to catch himself.

This time he DID cry, and he broke the bone completely.

He'll be in this cast for about three weeks, then they'll put a shorter one on him. When we were at the doctor's office yesterday, his daddy made the comment, "No more running on concrete." Of course how are you going to keep a little boy from running at all.

Big Helper

Yesterday after I picked up Sean from school we went home to cook dinner. More importantly Sean wanted to cook dinner. When he got in the door, he yelled for his daddy to help him make spaghetti. Sean pulled out his stool and they proceeded to cook. I was very proud of him.

After dinner, I was cleaning up in the kitchen and started to empty the dishwasher. Sean started putting away his own clean dishes. It was SO cute to watch him helping. When he got to the utensil basket he pulled his stuff out and put it away. Then he got to the rest of the silverware. First he handed me a utensil one at a time, then he tried to put multiple pieces in his hand to bring over. Finally he just pulled the basket out walked over to me and said, "How about I just bring the whole thing to you."

What clothes?

This evening after getting home from dinner, Michael got Sean in the bath. I had gotten in the shower, and Sean wanted to race to get ready for bed. Naturally to get him to cooperate better with his dad I took my time, and he won. Since I was still "trying" to finish getting ready, I asked him to put away the dirty clothes on the floor. Sean looked behind him at the pile on the floor, turned back around and started to pretend he was looking at the ceiling and said, "What clothes?" Michael and I had to laugh, and Sean put the clothes up.

Church People...

Yesterday while running around Wylie with my dad and his wife Judy, we passed a playground. I told them I used to take Sean to play there. My dad commented that it was a far drive just to take Sean to a playground. I clarified the comment by explaining we used to go to a church near it. My dad said, "That explains what Sean said."

Apparently a few weeks ago when they took Sean out running around, he asked my dad if they were church people. He went so far as to tell my dad that we (meaning me and Sean) used to be church people, but we haven't gone in awhile.

I guess I'm gonna have to ask Sean if he wants to go back to church.
