Working Hard

I had to get some work done at the office, so I brought Sean with me. He found my hardhat and goggles for when I go out to the warehouse. He certainly looks cute wearing he protective gear.

Introducing Felix

Here he is... How could anyone not take him home?

His first day was pretty good with one exception... he got us up at 5:45am today. Not really a big deal since I normally get up between 5-5:30am during the week. This will force me to get up and walk him. Sean is a VERY good puppy owner. Sean is convinced he's a big boy and can walk and feed his dog. (Dad, if you're reading this... he's WAY better than I was at taking care of my pets as a kid.) I'm signing him up for puppy classes next week to get him trained properly, because I think the shelter we adopted him from was wrong... he's gonna be WAY bigger than 50 pounds. He's got a healthy appetite and I'm going to see what our vet says about him.

Felix (sometimes called Phoenix)

Today was Bark Park day at Oak Park. Every other month or so the Garland Animal Shelter brings dog to the Oak Park grounds to get cats and dogs adopted. After running errands with Grandpa and Ms. JuJu we stopped to "look" at the dogs. Needless to say we have a new family member.

His name is Felix, but Sean sometimes says Phoenix, so I think he's probably going to respond to both. He's 6 months old, a German Sheppard mix. Looking at him, he looks like he may be part Boxer too.

Jerry surprisingly could care less about him. Most of y'all know Jerry doesn't do well with other dogs and only tolerated Ben because they were "brothers". Felix harasses Jerry, because he wants to play. And Jerry kind of just ignores him.

Sean LOVES him. Sean will run and Felix chases after him. Felix doesn't care about Sean falling and tripping all over him. Sean walks Felix while I walk Jerry. We're teaching him to walk on a leash, so right now it's more like Felix haphazardly wondering around.

Despite my lack of discussion with Michaal about getting another dog. He DOES like Felix. It's different to have a bigger puppy in the house, because of his energy. Jerry's 13 now and with Ben gone, we think he's lost some of his spirit. I know the old age contributes to it, but he hasn't been the same since Benny passed. Hopefully the new puppy energy will perk him up for the few years he has left in him and he won't be as lonely.

As soon as I get a chance to get a picture of Felix I'll get it posted.

Here is a COOL new cleaning product we found -
